ARARTE

STUDIO FOR ARCHITECTURE, ART AND DESIGN WAS FOUNDED IN 2012 BY ARCH. DR. ARNOLDAS GABRĖNAS AND ARCH. AGNĖ LEONAVIČIŪTĖ-GABRĖNIENĖ. IN OUR STUDIO WE WORK ON PROJECTS OF DIFFERENT SCALES, BUT MAINLY WE SPECIALIZE IN PRIVATE ARCHITECTURE, INTERIORS AND LANDSCAPING. WE FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT ARCHITECTURE IS THE PATH TO POSITIVE CHANGE, A SOURCE OF NEW CONNECTIONS AND MEANINGS, A PLACE FOR EMOTIONAL NOURISHMENT. IN OUR OFFICE WE PREFER AND PRACTICE SLOW DESIGN AND CONSCIOUSLY TURN AWAY FROM THE APPEARANCE OF CONSUMERISM IN ARCHITECTURE. SUSTAINABILITY, QUALITY AND EMPATHY ARE ALWAYS AT THE HEART OF OUR WORK, AS IS GOOD COMMUNICATION WITH OUR CLIENTS.

THE EXHIBITION “BRICK AND OTHERS”

The exhibition “BRICK AND OTHERS,” presented during the EUROPEAN HERITAGE DAYS 2025 IN ŠNIPIŠKĖS, explores historical materiality and asks how local resources, craft traditions, and material memory might guide more sustainable and community-rooted urban development. By integrating research with a public cultural event, the project brings historical objects and interpretive insights into an open community setting, strengthening public awareness of place, identity, and cyclical thinking in architecture.

PRESENTATION „BETWEEN PROTECTION AND PRESERVATION: THE TRANSFORMATION OF WOODEN AREAS AND LOCAL EXPERIENCE IN ŠNIPIŠKĖS“

At the international conference “URBAN HERITAGE: WOODEN SPACES” I delivered the presentation “Between Protection and Preservation: The Transformation of Wooden Areas and Local Experience in Šnipiškės,” asking a central question: how can we guide the transformation of historic wooden suburbs in a way that respects local identity, lived experience, and material heritage rather than erasing them through uncoordinated change? The talk examined these neighbourhoods as fragile transition zones and argued that their historical, spatial, and social value should serve as a foundation for more informed, community-oriented urban development.
